Why MADE IN THE USA

Does anyone in America check the labels anymore to see where their product was made? Do we care?  Or, is it all about the price? In the 1960s, 10% of consumer goods were made outside the US. Today, more than 50% of what we buy is made elsewhere. "We also have the chance, right now, to beat other countries.... with new goods stamped MADE IN THE USA" - President Obama, 2014 State of the Union. In the 1970s, the United States owned skateboard manufacturing.
